creative lives. Running from November until the end of 2020, a central theme of the episodes is 'Women's Health'.
These episodes will be made available on the Doyenne platform, and on Swayn research platforms. The Swayn Open Research repository provides a place for researchers to promptly have their findings published in an open access basis, to benefit the architecture and design community.

‘Diversity in Thinking’
An Interview with Ella Leoncio, Principal at Chamberlain Architects
‘Tring to get into the psyche of
what is it that they’re getting
at is always the challenge.
Sometimes people will come
with a brief and tell you what they
think the outcome should be
and not what the problem is.
If dig deep enough you can
find out what the problem is
and then try and solve it in
a way that you think is right.’

‘Working Globally’
An Interview with Kathleen Cayetano, Associate at Woods Bagot
‘Hong Kong was a bit of a risk
card for me. I got the offer
applying for OMA online,
then I thought, do I stay in Toronto,
or do I explore the world?
The obvious choice for me would
be to get out of Toronto,
see what Hong Kong is like,
then if I don’t like it I always
have the option of moving back home.
So I took the chance.’

‘The Business of Architecture’
An Interview with Kate Fitzgerald, Director of Whispering Smith Architecture
‘In the same way that there’s
the fair trade certification,
we have our own certification.
It’s 2019 and we have an incredible group of
people around us. This whole little world is
slowly getting built and all the other stuff
I’m hoping will just drop away,
as this new thing gets constructed.’

‘Confidence in the Construction Industry’
An Interview with Eli Giannini, Director at MGS Architects
‘The confidence issue is be confident,
but don’t be overly confident.
Try and understand where you’re at...
Forgive yourself for the things you don’t know.
Ask about the stuff that you know you don’t know.
And then, hopefully -
You’ve got people that can guide you,
and take you to the next step.
And if you don’t,
just be aware that you’ve gotta ask for it.’

‘Empathetic Architecture’
An Interview with Meaghan Dwyer, Principal at John Wardle Architects
‘Many people seem to find a way of
representing their design ideas,
and in many ways that is probably the most
important thing.
That you feel you have a good flow between
the mind and the hand.
That may well be the computer, but it could also be
diagramming,
or hand sketching.
Design ideas expressed fluidly
and beautifully regardless of the tool.

‘BIM Specialisation in small practice’
An Interview with Niea Nadya, Architectural Designer
‘Even kids have different personalities.
That’s how I see our clients.
I just need to understand their personality.
Because of that,
it’s easier for me to find the finishes for them.
My values are to be truthworthy
and honest, I just tell the reality,
I don’t like to say yes to everything.’

‘Thoughts on Creativity in Practice’
An Interview with Sarah Ball, Principal at Woods Bagot
‘Advocate for yourself.
Believe in yourself -
Advocate for creativity,
and the design process.
Because If we don’t champion it,
no one else is going to
do it for us.’

‘Curating the University Campus’
An Interview with Jocelyn Chiew, Campus Design Manager, Landscape Architect, Architect, Urban Planner
‘For me, art growing up,
was always something which allowed me
to imagine beyond my particular world,
what other worlds might be out there.
I think that’s important as a designer,
not just as a child, to be able to
imagine possible futures.’

'Navigating a PHD'
An Interview with Ethel Villafranca, PHD candidate and Museologist
‘I think the search to find knowledge is
something I naturally gravitate towards.
Museums are essentially guardians of
the material culture of society.
We hold physical material evidences
of our successes, and even our failures.’

on a human level- And find a way where everybody

‘Parity in the Profession’
An Interview with Dr. Julie Willis, Dean of Melbourne School of Design
‘You have to go and ask,
you have to assume -
And you have to go and own it.
Because if you start from a strong point,
and you have to back off, that’s ok.
But if you start from a weak point,
you’re probably going to lose further.’
